Chill Time

• Do keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible

• Don't fill the refrigerator with foods or beverages that are not already frozen or, at least, cold

When the refrigerator is chilled

• Do fill the refrigerator with frozen or chilled food first
• Do fill the refrigerator with ambient temperature food at timed intervals and in smaller increments (10 lbs every two hours)
• Don't load the refrigerator with ambient temperature beverages (or other liquids). Because of their density, liquids require the most energy to cool down
• Do use multiple small containers to chill liquids rather than one large container
• Do keep the temperature on the highest setting
• Do refill the ice trays and replenish the beverages at bedtime
• Do use an ice chest for drinks instead - especially if you're entertaining a lot of people.
